New Honda City Spotted Ahead of India Launch on May 22
  • Updated sedan to be launched on 22 May
  • Redesigned front fascia and new alloy wheels revealed

Prior to its scheduled launch on 22 May, the facelifted Honda City has now made its debut with no camouflage at all. As seen from the newly leaked picture, the sedan sports some styling changes from its predecessor in the front fascia area.

Some noticeable upgrades for the new generation Honda City include an improved frontal grille with the mesh-pattern design, coupled with slimmer LED headlamps. In addition, there is a redesign to the car’s bumper with the fog lamps shifted to a lower position in triangular-shaped housings. The Honda logo has also been moved to the hood from its earlier positioning inside the grill.

While the newly released photo captures just the front end of the sedan, a dual-toned alloy wheel design is said to be introduced as well for the updated Honda City. It can be expected that there will be some alterations done at the back end of the car, although the overall size of the sedan will most likely stay the same.

Interior specifics are still few for now, but the refreshed City could see new features and changes made to its cabin. A possible addition could be the implementation of a 360-degree camera, considering that the bumper looks like it houses the camera assembly. Other possibilities could include the introduction of new interior colour combinations alongside improvements in the ADAS software.

In terms of mechanicals, the City is set to retain the current configuration, including the use of the 1.5-liter petrol engine with a choice of six-speed manual and CVT transmissions. As far as the availability of an update for the City e:HEV variant of this model, that is yet to be seen whether this will happen concurrently or at a later stage.

With the help of this facelift, Honda intends to ensure that the City keeps up with other mid-size sedans in this segment, such as the recently refreshed Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia as well as Volkswagen Virtus, all of which are anticipated to undergo updates soon enough.
