New MINI Countryman C to Launch in India on 17 June

The Mini India has officially announced that the launch of the new Countryman C in India will take place on June 17th. The pre bookings for the vehicle have begun, and it will mark the entry of the third variant in the Countryman series for Mini in India along with the Countryman Electric and Countryman JCW All4.

Importantly, the Countryman C is set to undergo local assembly at the company’s manufacturing plant in Chennai, thus becoming the first-ever local assembly of any Countryman in India. Since local assembly makes a product price more attractive than imports, this factor may become one of the defining characteristics in the case of the Countryman C, as well.

Countryman is the largest vehicle manufactured by Mini, with dimensions 4.45 m long by 2.69 m wheelbase. Its design resembles the Countryman Electric model, although its grille and bumper have been altered somewhat. Regarding the exterior appearance, the car can be chosen in such body colours as Chilli Red, British Racing Green, Nanuq White, Slate Blue, and Smokey Green, with champagne coloured accents on the outside, black ORVM housings, black roof, pillars of the doors, and matrix LED tail lamps.

The interior, meanwhile, of the Countryman C will have some common design elements that are currently found in other Mini models, including a dual-tone theme in the cabin, the dashboard being created from recycled materials, and the signature round touch screen display. The equipment offered in the only variant will include dual zone climate control, sunroof with two glass panels, full LED headlights, heads up display, paddle shifters, and premium audio system.

The power plant in the new Countryman C model will comprise of a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with a power output of 134bhp and 230Nm of torque and will be mated to the only available 7-speed DCT. Officially, Mini India hasn’t revealed the exact specifications yet.

Competitors of the upcoming Mini Countryman C model will include the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Mercedes-Benz GLA. As for the Countryman C position compared to its sibling, the more powerful model Countryman JCW All4 is currently priced at Rs. 66.15 lakh, ex-showroom.

Coming to the price of the upcoming new Mini Countryman C model, our estimations suggest a price point between Rs. 58 lakh to Rs. 60 lakh, ex-showroom.
