- BYD’s first hybrid vehicle in India

It looks like BYD India is getting ready to fortify its defence here. Since there have been a number of PHEV patents and spyshots, it appears to be one of the very critical powertrains for quite some time ahead. Alongside the PHEV lineup, an uncovered prototype of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) was captured driving in India.

The primary highlight of PHEVs is their combined range of more than 1,000 km in one charge and fill-up, which will ideally take care of any worries regarding range anxiety. The Sealion 6 has a range of 1,100km after a full recharge (tank + battery). This SUV has a length of 4.78 metres, a width of 1.9 metres, a height of 1.67 metres, and a wheelbase of 2.76 metres. The luggage volume of 425 litres. The interior consists of a 12.3-inch digital dashboard display, 15.6-inch swivel infotainment screen, vegan leather seating, vegan leather steering wheel, eight-way electrically adjustable driver seat, four-way electrically adjustable passenger seat, and a rear-row centre armrest with two cupholders.
In terms of its mechanical performance, the BYD Sealion 6 features front-wheel drive propulsion, with a motor delivering 194.3bhp/300Nm (PMS type). The car also comes with a 1.5-liter engine generating 96bhp/122Nm. In total, the power output reaches 214bhp. Another option for this electric vehicle is the advanced AWD model, equipped with a front motor providing 201bhp/300Nm, a rear motor offering 161bhp/250Nm, and a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 129bhp/220Nm, thus increasing the overall power output up to 339bhp.

As for the power battery, it can be found in two versions – 18.3kWh and 26.6kWh (BYD Blade LFP). Its charging rate amounts to 6.6kW (AC) and 18kW (DC). Both models boast V2V and
