The Mahindra XEV 9S was put through its paces in the latest real-world range test by CarWale. This particular test was carried out on the top-of-the-line 79kWh Pack Three Above variant, which retails at approximately ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra has rated the range of this particular electric SUV as 679km, but it was crucial to find out how much distance it would cover in real-world scenarios.

The real-world range achieved by the Mahindra XEV 9S stood at 510km, which was about 75% of the rated range offered by the brand. This was an excellent performance from the carmaker, especially since the average achieved by other EVs in the country is 70–75%.
Electric cars tend to be more efficient in the city as they get advantage of low speed and regenerative braking.
But maintaining high speeds for long durations on the highway tends to empty the battery quickly. That’s where the Mahindra XEV 9S comes up with a big surprise.
At an average speed of 90-100 kmph, we got a fuel efficiency of 7 km/kWh from this SUV, which is remarkable for a car of this category.

From this point of view, it can be said that Mahindra has done an excellent job optimizing the engine of the car for not only city but also highway driving.
In other words, when you are going on long trips, you should not worry about anything.
