Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Likely to Launch in 2028: Key Details Revealed

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be one of the biggest launches by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) in years, introducing yet another completely new original Toyota vehicle that will be manufactured locally for the first time. Still, although it will be produced in India, it will certainly be a costly car that is priced very high.

With its body-on-frame construction and dimensions of 4,610 mm length, 1,855 mm width, and 1,890 mm height, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ may compete against the Mahindra Scorpio-N. Yet, it is significantly smaller in size, having the short wheelbase length of 2,580 mm.

The starting price of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is estimated to be approximately Rs. 30 lakh (Ex-showroom). On the other hand, the top model may reach Rs. 40 lakh (Ex-showroom), as rumors suggest that TKM plans to launch not only a conventional version but also hybrid versions.

For now, Toyota has been able to develop the Land Cruiser FJ model powered only by the 2TR-FE 2.7-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which is capable of generating 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque. The car’s engine powers its wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox and part-time four-wheel drive system. It is rumored that Toyota will be upgrading the current 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine in the coming year 2029.

In terms of the exterior, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has LED headlights, LED front and rear fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/60 R18 tires, part-LED rear tail lights, and a side-opening tailgate with a centrally mounted spare tire. Toyota does not provide a panoramic sunroof for the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, but it should not be seen as a drawback by hardcore off-roading enthusiasts.

The interior equipment of the Land Cruiser FJ includes a partially digital instrumentation cluster that consists of the 7-inch driver information panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, as well as dual zone climate control. The safety equipment installed in the vehicle consists of seven airbags, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, pre-collision system, and a 360-degree camera.
