This new engine platform is believed to be built by KTM Austria, prior to Bajaj Auto acquiring the company. It also shows that it is not the upcoming sub-500 cc parallel-twin engine that will be built for India. The test mule appears to be in its early stages of development, with little body work like the Duke seen testing earlier.
The bike comes with long travel WP suspension on both ends, along with WP brake calipers. The engine and exhaust system seem very much like those from the coming Duke bike. As per our sources, this engine may serve as the link between the manufacturer’s 390 and 790 range of bikes. It might come with about 60 to 70 bhp power, or even more.
The replacement of the 690 cc single-cylinder engine with a twin cylinder engine seems logical. This is due to the inability of the former engine type to meet the growing emissions norms.

There are no further details on this new engine platform for now. KTM plans to launch the new engine platform before 2027 in various bike models such as the Duke, Adventure, and RC series. This may compete directly with other middleweight bike ranges such as the Triumph 660s, Kawasaki Ninja 650, and Versys 650.
