Upcoming Ducati Desmo250 MX Could Expand Ducati’s Presence in India

Ducati Desmo250 MX is now available on the market as the latest off-road bike offered by Ducati. The pricing has not yet been revealed, but the motorcycle will initially go on sale at selected dealerships across Europe starting July 2026, with the Indian market coming later. Ducati has taken all that it has learned from the 450 and made a smaller, higher-revving motorcycle that appears to be targeting hardcore racers with its howling 250.

Desmo250 MX is a true 250 with a brand-new 249.7cc single cylinder desmodromic engine capable of achieving a very high 15,000rpm. The beefy 43.6bhp at 12,500rpm and 28.3Nm at 8,800rpm will enable it to accelerate to insane speeds in almost all terrains. The engine will weigh 24.7kg and has the same 81mm bore and 48.4mm stroke like the Panigale V4 R, heh heh!

The engine will be powered by a 44mm Mikuni throttle body and a new exhaust system designed for performance, rider comfort and noise compliance in international racing. In addition, it will have a five speed transmission manufactured exclusively for this bike with an upshift quickshifter and a hydraulic Brembo clutch featuring a seven plate design with a disc spring. These sophisticated technologies will aid riders in maintaining their rhythm during strenuous rides, especially where the clutch is engaged multiple times on harsh terrains.

The chassis will be made with the same technology used on the 450 motocross bikes manufactured by Ducati. This includes the use of an aluminium frame and a cast aluminium swingarm which provides stiffness that will make the rider feel safer during braking and cornering. The suspension will be of Showa and it will comprise of 49mm fully adjustable upside-down forks with Kashima coating, with 310mm of wheel travel and a fully adjustable Showa monoshock, with 301mm of wheel travel. Weight-wise, at only 103kg wet without fuel, the bike should be extremely nimble to manoeuvre.

As for the tyres and wheels, they too are highly specialized thanks to the Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tyres. The wheels are very fancy indeed, very expensive Takasago Excel aluminium wheels and Alpina spokes. Brakes are common with the 450 and include Brembo parts with single Galfer discs.

In terms of electronics Ducati learned from the Desmo450 MX experience and implemented it in this smaller bike. The equipment includes two engine maps, two power modes, two riding modes, Ducati Traction Control with three settings, engine brake control with two settings, launch control with three settings and the X-Link application for personalizing.

The other interesting thing about Desmo250 MX is the Predictive Maintenance system provided by Ducati. It applies an algorithm developed according to Ducati Corse experience to evaluate the current engine stress level. Unlike the regular service schedule, the Predictive Maintenance system changes the moment of the scheduled maintenance procedure based on riding load. In particular, the MID service involves checking of the valve clearance at 45 hours of riding, whereas the piston replacement is necessary between 45 and 60 hours. The FULL service involving a complete engine overhaul is expected between 90 and 120 hours. Good luck with payments.

There will be other accessories that will also come along with this Ducati Monster 250, which includes machined factory parts, triple clamps, complete exhaust system, Akrapovic titanium slip-on, Brembo Racing brake calipers and Showa Kit A suspension. It must be noted that one component from Ducati’s factory equipment will not be available for the private riders, and this includes the factory suspension which is used by the race machine. Ducati is also going to launch a technical riding range in association with Drudi Performance, and this would include Alpinestars Riding Gear, Arai Helmet, and Outerwear.
