BYD Atto 1 Debuts as a Compact Electric Hatchback with 380km Range in Thailand
BYD has now officially launched their Atto 1 in Thailand at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show. This electric vehicle will now compete in the affordable electric segment, and it will certainly attract a lot of buyers. The compact electric hatchback has been launched at a starting price of 4,29,900 Thai Baht, and the highest end Premium variant will cost 4,59,900 Thai Baht. This translates to around Rs. 12.29 lakh to Rs. 13.15 lakh in Indian currency, and it will certainly fall in an interesting price segment if BYD decides to launch this electric vehicle in India.
At a glance, the BYD Atto 1 electric vehicle looks like a compact electric hatchback designed for urban buyers who want a compact, modern, and efficient electric vehicle. The exterior design of this electric vehicle is simple but attractive, featuring a closed front grille, a retro-style door handle, 16-inch alloy wheels, a connected tail light, and a roof spoiler, giving it a sporty look. The exterior design of this electric vehicle looks youthful and practical, something many buyers want for their first electric vehicle.

Inside, BYD has also fitted the Atto 1 with a good array of features for its segment. The electric hatchback features a 7-inch digital instrument display and a 10.1-inch infotainment display with wireless connectivity. Other features include an NFC key, tilt and telescopic steering, a six-way powered driver seat, wireless charging, and a rear-view camera with three parking radars. All of this makes the Atto 1 feel rather premium for an entry-level hatchback.
The top-spec Atto 1 is powered by a 38.88kWh Blade LFP battery pack, a single electric motor producing 74bhp and 135Nm of torque. The Atto 1 has a claimed 380km range on the NEDC cycle, which should be more than enough for daily use and short weekend getaways. The Atto 1 also supports 40kW DC Fast Charging and 2.2kW V2L Reverse Charging, allowing users to use their cars to charge external devices in a pinch.
On the safety aspect, the Atto 1 comes with ABS with EBD, traction control, hill-start assist, and six airbags. One feature that stands out for the Atto 1 is the presence of a powered tailgate. This feature is not very common in many cars, especially in this segment. This feature helps the Atto 1 stand out as a feature-packed urban EV.

Regarding India, there is nothing announced as of now, but the Atto 1 does seem to be a model that could find a home in India. If brought to India, the Atto 1 could find direct competition with cars like the Tata Punch EV in the affordable EV segment. The biggest advantage for BYD would be the presence of their Blade battery, luxurious features, and urban-oriented design. The Atto 1 seems to be a smart move for BYD in terms of their global EV offerings.
