Celebrates girder front fork, first seen on the Indian Chief in 1946
The livery of the bike is said to be inspired by Burt Munro’s streamliner
Way back in the end of 2025, everyone got a glimpse of the Concept Girder by Indian Motorcycle, a tribute to one of the most distinctive engineering innovations in its history. The concept bike is said to be celebrating its legacy around the girder front fork, which was first seen on the Indian Chief back in 1946. It was said to be a major innovation over the leaf-sprung fork it replaced, being nearly as symbolic as the valanced fenders and the Indian headdress.
The girder front end was an important element because it represented a more advanced and controlled suspension system for its era. So while this bike undoubtedly has all the earmarks of a show bike, it’s not arbitrary. It’s a deliberate return to a front suspension system that once represented a path forward for the Indian Chief.
It’s also not an arbitrary system in that it’s not delicate in its conceptual approach but rather centers on the Thunderstroke 116 V-twin motor, which the company claims is the only big twin on the market that offers “pure air-cooled performance in this form.”

Above all, the design is paying homage to Burt Munro’s streamliner and adding another layer to the concept of mass. Munro is one of the most emotionally charged individuals in the history of Indian Motorcycles. They are not just celebrating their styling heritage; they are also celebrating the era when engineering ambition and individuality were at the heart of the brand.
