- India patent filing hints at possible launch
- Powered by a 60.13kWh battery with a claimed range of 500km
It looks like Vinfast is preparing for an Indian lineup expansion through the VF8 SUV line. Vinfast has registered a design patent for its second-generation VF8 in India, just months after its reveal in its home country. Although a design patent application doesn’t guarantee a launch, it is usually one of the first steps that manufacturers take prior to launching their products in a foreign market.

The design patented here is almost identical to the global VF8, although there are a few design elements that make it unique for India. On the front, it features the V-shaped light bar, divided DRLs, and a blacked-out blanked-off grille, along with air curtains on either side of the bumper. On the sides, you get the rising line and character lines, while the contrasting black wheel arch cladding, although the alloy wheel designs differ from the global VF8. At the rear, the V-shaped LED taillamps remain identical, while changes can be seen in terms of bumper design as well as positioning of reflectors. Something interesting to note about the top view is that there appears to be no panoramic glass roof, something that is offered on the VF6 and VF7 in India.

The Vietnam automobile maker Vinfast entered the Indian market last year by launching the VF6 and VF7, which come for prices of Rs. 17.29 lakh and Rs. 21.89 lakh, respectively. In addition to this, the Vietnamese company has now launched the VF MPV 7, a 7-seater MPV at Rs. 24.49 lakh. With the VF8 application, if launched, the brand will venture into a more premium segment in the EV market.
