- Gets road-biased 17-inch wheels
- Global debut expected at EICMA
The BMW Motorrad may soon roll out a new performance cruiser named the R20. This comes after the poor performance of the BMW R18 cruiser, which failed to have a considerable impact since it hit the market in 2020.

Recently, the head of BMW Motorrad, Markus Flasch, published an image depicting several test R20 motorcycles, indicating that production of the machine may soon start. Contrasting with the nostalgic design features of the R18 and the old BMW R1200 C, the R20 seems to adopt a performance-driven look.

Moreover, while discussing the R20 motorcycle, Flasch referred to the Yamaha MT-01 cruiser, pointing towards BMW’s possibility of producing a performance cruiser featuring a massive boxer engine and agile handling characteristics. In spite of the lack of details, the recent pictures of the R20 motorcycle show that it sports road tires, possibly 17-inch wheels, a chain-based shaft drive system, and a dynamic posture for riders. Also, the R20 gets a single-seater design and a more developed exhaust system than the previous prototype.

With this, it is plausible that BMW may unveil the R20 globally during EICMA this year.
