This time around, Ducati has shown the latest addition to its family of motorcycles in the name of Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera, which was recently announced for European launch in June this year. Indian launch will follow soon after.

As far as the new styling goes, the Ducati Red wheels and frame of the Hypermotard have been complemented by the Nera styling, which makes the whole motorcycle appear in black, except for some red accents, which gives it a serious street-motard look.

The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera will be available with Ducati Quick Shift as a standard offering. Since the bike itself is designed for aggressive riding, DQS will enable clutchless shifting for up and down gears making it even more dynamic to ride.

The engine is identical to the one used in the standard model which is based on the Superquadro Mono single cylinder engine, which was developed from the twin-cylinder engine of the Ducati 1299 Panigale. The engine features huge 116 mm bore piston, engine combustion chamber configuration, titanium inlet valves, steel exhaust valves, and Desmodromic valvetrain. Ducati claims that the engine produces 77.5 bhp with an impressive 10,250 rpm redline speed.

The bike’s weight is 151kg without fuel, owing to the use of a trellis frame with varying cross-sections and thicknesses, alloy cast wheels and brake discs, and aluminium flanges. The dual-swingarm system uses a progressive linkage system linked to a completely adjustable rear shock absorber.

The electronics comprise ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, Ducati Power Launch, and Ducati Quick Shift up/down. In addition, the ABS system comes with configurations for supermoto-style riding in race tracks, with an added Slide-by-brake feature. According to Ducati, installing the racing Termignoni exhaust system, exclusive for track use, gains seven horsepower with the Wheelie Assist activated.
