Tesla Model S in India: Price, Range, Features & Full Specs

Despite the fact that Tesla has not officially released the Model S into the Indian market, it has still been garnering a lot of attention among Indian fans of electric cars, premium car buyers, and technologically inclined customers. The Model S is renowned for its futuristic design, rapid acceleration, extended driving distance, and revolutionary software interface. It features the best of both worlds, namely the luxury of a premium sedan and the speed of a supercar, which makes it one of the most discussed electric cars across the globe. On Tesla’s official website, there are mentioned two variants of this model: Model S and Model S Plaid, both equipped with all-wheel drive.

In terms of its appeal to Indian customers, perhaps the best selling point of the Tesla Model S would be its blend of luxury + performance + zero carbon emissions. The standard Model S comes with a range of 410 miles per charge as certified by the EPA, while the performance variant known as Model S Plaid has a range of 368 miles per charge. Tesla’s own website mentions that the normal Model S has a horsepower output of 670 HP, while the Plaid variant has a power output of 1,020 HP. This demonstrates the car’s focus on performance, something uncommon even for premium ICE sedans.

In terms of design and utility, it is not only speed that sets apart the Model S, but there is also the benefit of having ample space inside, a sleek aerodynamic shape, and ample space to store luggage when needed for a family outing or on longer trips. From the specs released by Tesla Motors, we have details that the car has a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd and also features 28 cubic feet of cargo space. With its physical measurements, including its weight, the Model S can be classified as a luxury executive sedan.

Pricing, on the other hand, would present the greatest obstacle for this product in the Indian market. Many imported EVs tend to become costly due to taxes and duties imposed by the Indian government, and thus the Model S could only attract few buyers without local manufacturing or supportive EV policies. But with increased efforts of Tesla to enter India, this vehicle could attract buyers who are interested in luxury electric vehicles than in luxury cars. The bottom line is that the Model S is technologically advanced and high-performing electric car that would attract many buyers in India.
