In the coming 12 to 15 months, we are going to witness a flood of new electric cars that will be introduced to the Indian market. At least half a dozen all-electric cars are expected to be launched, and to be honest, it’s an exciting time for buyers of EVs.
The electric passenger vehicle segment is witnessing rapid growth in India despite having limited options in the affordable segment. If we look at the sales volume of electric vehicles in India for the month of Feb 2026, we can clearly see that a total of 20,616 units were sold in this month. Thus, more and more carmakers are getting ready to join this segment in India. Even some of the prominent carmakers have started testing their upcoming electric vehicles on the roads of India; hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the new electric cars spotted testing in India
1. Honda 0 Alpha EV
The Japanese automobile manufacturer, Honda, has recently flagged off the test run of its upcoming electric SUV in the Indian market. The new electric SUV has been codenamed as 0 Alpha EV. It will be the first electric vehicle from the Japanese automobile manufacturer in the Indian market. The electric SUV has already been unveiled globally at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo. It is expected to be launched in FY 2026-27, targeting the Indian and Japanese markets, among others.
Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV is being developed in India and is to be exported to several countries. The specs are not yet revealed, but it is expected to deliver 500 km range on a single charge against its peers like Maruti e-Vitara, Hyundai Creta EV, and Tata Harrier EV.

2. Mahindra BEO7
Earlier in the month, Mahindra BE.O7 has been spotted on the Indian roads for the first time. The new Mahindra BE.O7 is going to be the second electric model in the BE series, but it will be the fourth born-electric SUV, following the XEV 9e, BE 6, and XEV 9S. The new Mahindra BE.O7 is expected to be launched in 2027 and will be close to 4.6 meters in length. The new Mahindra BE.O7 will be based on the INGLO born-electric platform, along with a 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack.
The production-ready BE O7 may be launched with a new name as it will compete with other strong players like Tata Harrier EV and Vinfast VF7. The 5-seater electric SUV will be a huge volume driver, announced Mahindra’s Auto division CEO Rajesh Jejurikar during the quarterly earnings call.

3. Hyundai Electric SUV
Recently, a boxy-shaped mystery Hyundai electric SUV was spotted at a charging station in Goa. The electric SUV is from Hyundai, and it is completely electric. The car is heavily camouflaged, but from the spy shots, we can clearly see some of the design cues of the car in the form of upright stance, boxy shape, flat roof, 16/17-inch wheels, and roof rails.
It is expected to be a sub-4 meter electric SUV, which would compete with Tata’s Nexon EV. Unlike Hyundai’s other electric cars in India, this car has been designed and developed keeping in mind the domestic market. The new Hyundai electric SUV is expected to launch below the Creta EV and is expected to debut by the end of 2026.

4. Kia Syros EV
Kia India is working on the electrified form of the Kia Syros, and it has been spotted several times on the country roads in its testing phase. The Kia Syros EV, which is based on the Hyundai Inster-inspired K1 platform, will be equipped with a front-wheel drive system. Sources have confirmed to us that it will be launched as the most affordable electric vehicle in the country, placed below the Carens Clavis EV.
The e-SUV would have a 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery pack with a maximum driving range of 369 km on a full charge. The Syros EV is likely to be launched in the second half of 2026, with a price range of Rs 15-20 lakh (ex-showroom). The design and interior would be identical to the ICE version.

5. 2026 Tata Tiago EV facelift
The company’s smallest and most affordable electric car in the country is set to get a new look with new design, new-age features, and bigger batteries. The 2026 Tata Tiago EV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads with camouflage. The car is expected to be launched in the second quarter (Jul-Sep) of Financial Year 27 in the country.

The present model comes equipped with 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh batteries that deliver a range of 223 km and 293 km respectively. This makes it a perfect car to drive in the city. Tata Tiago EV is a direct competitor to MG Comet EV. This car is much smaller in size compared to the Tata EV. The interior images of the 2026 Tiago EV facelift are not available at present.

6. Tata Sierra EV
The Tata Sierra EV will be launched in the first quarter of FY27, i.e., Apr-Jun 2026. The all-electric version of the Tata Sierra will be slotted between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV. The sources have indicated that it will be available with single motor rear wheel drive and dual motor all-wheel-drive options.
The battery packs used in 55 kWh and 65 kWh are expected to be shared with the Harrier EV with similar range figures. Tata Sierra EV is also expected to be equipped with Vehicle-to-Vehicle charging technology, Vehicle-to-Load charging technology, Level 2 ADAS, etc. With this new model, Tata Motors is going to have the highest number of electric vehicles in its lineup.
