Kia Carens Clavis EV India Launch 490 KM Range, 7-Seater Electric Family Car

Kia Carens Clavis EV India Launch 490 KM Range

Kia Carens Clavis EV Brings 7-Seater Comfort with Up to 490 KM Electric Range

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is something that looks like a very smart move for the Indian market. In a world where so many electric vehicles are designed with style or performance in mind, Kia has decided to do something a little more sensible. This is an electric vehicle designed for families, for daily commutes, for weekend getaways, and for people who need space, comfort, and functionality in the real world. And I think that is what makes it interesting.

The Carens Clavis EV, at first look, has a modern and premium look. The car boasts a bold front look with Kia’s digital styling elements, connected lighting elements, and clean electric car design that helps it differentiate itself from the usual crowd of petrol and diesel cars. The car still has a proper family car look but with a futuristic twist. Kia has also added features like Ice Cube MFR LED headlights, Star Map LED connected tail lamps, and sleek dual-tone aero alloy wheels that give the car a premium look, which may not be expected by many people.

The biggest strength of the Carens Clavis EV is that it has not forgotten its original role. This is a practical family car, and Kia has not forgotten that by providing a 7-seater interior. This is a big plus in the Indian market. In terms of the interior, the car is focused on comfort and convenience. This includes the dual panoramic display panel, ventilated front seats, the Bose premium sound system with 8 speakers, 64-colour ambient lighting, and even a dual pane panoramic sunroof. This is a car that is trying to make the journey as comfortable as possible rather than just focusing on the latest and greatest in technology.

As for the EV side of things, it appears that Kia has done a good job of getting the important basics covered. The Carens Clavis EV comes with two different battery pack options: a 42 kWh option and a larger 51.4 kWh option. The larger option has a range of up to 490 km, while the smaller option has a range of 404 km. This is sufficient for city use and the occasional use of the highway for most people. Additionally, it has the ability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 39 minutes using a fast charger, which is helpful for those who don’t want to spend too much time waiting for a charge

One feature that really stands out is its focus on usability. The Carens Clavis EV has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, both internal and external, allowing it to power gadgets and other devices when needed. This may seem like a rather niche feature, but when you are going on a road trip, camping, or even when you have your family outdoors, you might find this feature quite useful. Kia has integrated its i-Pedal regenerative braking system, allowing drivers to have paddle shifters, making it a more modern and efficient EV driving experience.

Safety is another segment where the company scores well. ADAS Level 2 with 20 autonomous safety features, along with 6 airbags, is being offered, which clearly indicates that the company is trying to sell this vehicle as a premium family EV, not just another EV for the masses.
