Hyundai IONIQ 9 India Review: Features, Range, Interior & EV SUV Highlights

Hyundai IONIQ 9: A Big, Premium EV SUV That Feels Ready for India

The IONIQ 9 appears to be Hyundai’s most family-oriented electric SUV. This is a spacious and comfortable electric SUV that comes in three rows with many technological features. The global car can be different from the one we see in India someday, but the current design of the IONIQ 9 clearly showcases what the future holds for Hyundai’s high-end electric vehicles. The IONIQ 9 from the Indian point of view is unique since it is not aimed at being a sporty coupe SUV but rather focuses on aspects which the premium market segment of Indians are actually interested in, such as good road presence, interior space, comfortable seats, ease of charging, and luxury interiors like lounges. It is all about connectivity according to Hyundai.

One of the key strengths of this vehicle is its size and usability of the interior space. The wheelbase of the IONIQ 9 is relatively long, and due to the fact that the car is an electric vehicle, its flooring is rather flat, thus providing more space in the legs department and ensuring greater mobility from one row of seats to another. It can also be equipped with 6-seat and 7-seat configurations and comes with Relaxation Seats and second-row swivel seats.

As regards the performance of the IONIQ 9, it features a 110.3 kWh battery capacity and various powertrains available. In addition, based on the version type, the car comes with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive capabilities. According to the information provided by Hyundai on the matter, the version that yields the longest range has an estimated range of up to 620 kilometers (WLTP), whereas its fast charging time from 10 to 80 percent can be completed within 24 minutes using a 350 kW charger.

The true draw for Indian consumers will be its high-class road trip capabilities. The IONIQ 9 has ample battery capacity, rapid charging capability, space in the third-row seats, and generous luggage space, which makes it ideal for inter-city trips as well as intra-city driving. Should Hyundai launch it in India, it could very well position it as a rival to other luxury electric vehicles offered by brands like Kia, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo. In terms of pricing, anything goes, but from a product standpoint, it is both modern and premium enough.
