Tata Harrier EV gets new AWD variant at Rs 26.49 lakh

While initially only offered in a pricey top-of-the-line package, the Tata Harrier.ev AWD has been a car that many felt was out of their price range. That is no longer the case with the launch of this new variant of the powerful electric SUV.

The Tata Harrier.ev was launched in an expensive AWD version. However, with the strong demand for an AWD version in the new flagship electric vehicle, Tata Motors has extended its availability to the lower-priced Fearless+ version.

The Tata Harrier.ev Fearless+ AWD model is priced at Rs. 26.49 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison to the Tata Harrier.ev Empowered AWD model, which continues to be priced at Rs. 28.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this model is Rs. 2.5 lakh cheaper.

Just like in the Empowered model, Tata Motors is using a combination of two motors in the Tata Harrier.ev Fearless+ AWD model. The motors are one that produces 175 kW (235 hp) and 304 Nm torque at the rear and another motor that produces 116 kW (156 hp) and 164 Nm torque at the front. The rear motor can temporarily produce 340 Nm torque with a boost function.

The total power delivered by the vehicle is 291 kW (390 hp), while it can deliver a total torque of 504 Nm. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The vehicle is powered by a 75 kWh LFP battery pack. This is similar to the Empowered version. The total range that can be driven by the vehicle in a single charge is 622 kilometres. However, Tata Motor claims that in practical conditions, it can range from 460 to 490 kilometres.

Features of the Fearless+ trim include 19-inch alloy wheels, sequential turn indicators, a 10-speaker JBL Black system, a 6-way power driver seat with memory, welcome retract, and ventilation, a 4-way power passenger seat with a ventilation function, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 65-watt USB-C charger. On the safety side, the car has seven airbags, a 360º HD camera system, and front parking sensors.

When compared with the Empowered trim, the Fearless+ trim lacks a few aspects, including 15 Auto Park Assist features, 22 Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Blind Spot View Monitor, HD Digital IRVM with a dashcam, a 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment system with Mappls offline maps, and a kick-activated powered tailgate. Nevertheless, the Rs. 2.5 lakh cost savings it provides over the top-end trim is a big one.
